We decided to take a personal day on a Friday and go on an overnight junket to Atlantic City with Players Club. They fly out of Savannah first thing in the morning. You spend one night at the Tropicana, and return late the next night. Dana & Wade came with us this time, and it was a BLAST! This trip report is being written 5 months after the trip, so there may not be too many details. We flew out of Savannah airport. It was supposed to be an early morning flight, but we were picking up the rest of the passengers in Charleston, and they were experiencing fog. We enjoyed the open bar on the flight - even though the beer was a bit warm. Susan is the travel agent for Players Club, and she always organizes a drawing during the flight. You can write your seat number on a $20. If your $20 is drawn, then you win the kitty. It was over $1000. No luck this trip! We took the charter bus from the airport to the Tropicana. There is usually a long line since the entire group is checking in at the same time, so Dana & I did the waiting while the guys hit the casino. We met up with them at the bar in the atrium. The best bartender in Atlantic City works there. His name is Akbar, and he is SUPER nice. It amazes me how he can remember us when we only get there about twice a year. We had a good time showing Dana & Wade the Boardwalk, and some favorite places we've found. We went to a little bar for lunch, and had a great meal. AC has a lot of little bar places that have good food at really good prices. Wade ordered a Philly Cheese-steak & it was HUGE!!! There were no clams at the Grotto on this trip, but I will check back next time. Dana & I sat at the Atrium Bar to listen to Mark & Clark - the Dueling Pianist. They are a little hokey, but it was fun. The guys joined us to hear Blanche - the Singing Bartender. On our first trip she was actually tending bar while she performed, but now it's just a stage act. Blanche does have a great voice, and you are welcome to make requests. No one had a winning trip. Dana & Wade had fun playing some machines in the sports bar at the Trop, and I hit a little on a Wheel of Fortune machine at the Taj - but that was all... Maybe next time..... |
